Job description

At Maverik, we don’t just offer jobs, we offer adventures.

As an Instructional Designer 2, you’ll take training projects from initial intake through development and delivery, partnering with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business needs and turn them into effective learning solutions. You’ll design a variety of training materials, including eLearning, instructor-led training, job aids, performance support tools, and multimedia content, while managing multiple projects and providing guidance to other instructional designers. This is an opportunity to bring new ideas to the team, build strong stakeholder relationships, and help improve how training is designed and delivered across Maverik.

Why this role matters
This role helps ensure our team members have practical, effective training that supports them in their day-to-day work. You’ll also help elevate how we approach learning at Maverik by finding ways to make training more effective, efficient, and impactful.

Location/Schedule

This role is based at our Salt Lake City Headquarters and follows a hybrid schedule with four days in-office and one remote day each week.

What You’ll do in this Role

  • Lead project intake, learning needs analysis, and requirements gathering to translate business goals into clear learning objectives and success measures
  • Design and develop blended learning solutions (eLearning, ILT/VILT, job aids, assessments, and performance support tools) using appropriate instructional design methodologies and standards
  • Recommend learning strategies and delivery methods that improve application, consistency, and measurable performance outcomes
  • Partner with SMEs and key stakeholders to clarify expectations, align on scope/timelines, and ensure content accuracy and operational relevance
  • Create engaging multimedia learning content including video capture/editing, scripting, and basic animation using approved tools and templates
  • Independently manage multiple instructional design projects from intake through deployment, proactively communicating status, risks, dependencies, and scope changes
  • Facilitate content reviews, incorporate feedback, and drive stakeholder alignment to ensure timely delivery and high-quality outputs
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure learning assets meet instructional, brand, and accessibility standards
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using feedback and available data, making updates and continuous improvements as needed
  • Support team consistency through peer reviews and may provide informal guidance to junior designers, interns, or contractors when needed

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

You’ll be a great fit for this adventure if you have:

  • 4+ years of instructional design, learning development, or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple instructional design projects end-to-end (intake through delivery)
  • Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools and media software (Articulate 360 preferred; Adobe Suite, Camtasia, etc.)
  • Strong skills in video production, editing, scripting, and voice-over coordination/support
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders

Bonus points if you also bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, Communication, Human Resource Development, Educational Technology, or related field preferred
  • Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Instructional Design certificate preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range:$80,000-$90,000/year + DOE and Bonus Opportunities

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Maverik considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Benefits Include:

  • Full Health, Dental, and Vision Package with company contribution to cost
  • In-Store and Fuel Discounts
  • Retirement plan with company match (401K)
