OVERVIEW

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) employs student-focused professionals with equity-mindsets. Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation led by a 14-member board of elected student leaders. ASI is an auxiliary organization authorized by the California State University Board of Trustees to perform Student Life functions for Cal Poly Pomona students. ASI provides opportunities for student engagement, student leadership and employment, and a multitude of Student Life programs and services e.g., recreation and wellbeing, student union and activities, student government, clubs and organizations, food pantry, and childcare. The administrative and student support areas of ASI include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI employs approximately 500 part-time students and 60 full-time staff members. ASI accepts the responsibility for conscientiously managing mandatory student fees and state-owned facilities: $18M annual operating budget, $5M annual debt service, approximately $24M in reserves, and 294,253 square feet of student space (student union, recreation center, and pool). ASI is in the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 28,000 students.โ€ฏ

POSITION DEFINITION


Under the general supervision of the Learning & Development Manager, the Instructional Designer Coordinator leads the development of high-impact, competency-based digital learning experiences that support ASIโ€™s organizational growth and strategic learning goals. This position is responsible for oversight of the design, production, and continuous improvement of asynchronous modules and microlearning aligned with the strategic competency system. The Instructional Designer Coordinator collaborates with subject matter experts, instructional support staff, and cross-functional teams to ensure content is accessible, engaging, and measurable. This role supervises part-time Instructional Design Assistants and LMS Assistants, leveraging instructional technologies and learning analytics to drive learner success, track competency development, and strengthen ASIโ€™s learning ecosystem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Lead the design and development of asynchronous digital learning experiences aligned with the prescribed competency system and ASIโ€™s organizational goals. Recruits, selects, trains, develops, coaches, evaluates, and supervises part-time (5) Instructional Design Assistants and (2) LMS Assistants, fostering team growth and instructional design excellence.
  • Lead the creation and development of interactive, accessible, and scalable modules using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate), incorporating multimedia resources, including but not limited to, video, audio, graphics, and simulations.
  • Develop and embed formative and summative assessments, including but not limited to, pre/post knowledge checks, quizzes, and competency-based evaluations.
  • Conduct instructional needs analyses, aligning course design with mapped curriculum to clearly define learning outcomes, supporting both enterprise and department-level learning initiatives.
  • Oversee the continuous improvement, version control, and maintenance of digital content within the Learning Management System(s)
  • Collaborate with the Learning Experience Coordinator to co-develop blended learning pathways and ensure asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences reinforce one another
  • Lead and coordinate the management of content distribution, user experience, system integration, and learning analytics reporting.
  • Lead the interpretation of LMS analytics, learner feedback, and evaluation data to inform content iteration and learning design improvements.
  • Consult with program, department, and service area staff on curriculum design needs and provide guidance on asynchronous learning solutions.
  • In consultation with the Learning & Development Manager, contribute to the development of a multimodal curricular plan and ensure its digital execution points are strategically aligned.
  • Assist in the development and technical implementation of ASIโ€™s digital credentialing and badging program.
  • Provide instructional guidance and consultation to managers and support roles working on digital learning projects.
  • Support system infrastructure development for ASI-wide initiatives such as Aspire to Inspire (A2I), contributing to implementation, tracking, and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to support the assignment and management of required compliance training, as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration across the L&D team, ASI staff, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Attend all trainings, meetings, and workshops as required
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masterโ€™s degree required in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, or other instructional-related field; Bachelor's degree with additional instructional design experience considered
  • Minimum four years of experience in digital, asynchronous learning design, instructional design, content creation and development, and learning management system development
  • Two years of supervision, leadership, or oversight of staff, required
  • Advanced proficiency with authoring tools (Articulate, Adobe Captivate, etc.)
  • Considerable knowledge in LMS platforms (Canvas)
  • Experience with competency-based curriculum design and assessment development
  • Working knowledge of universal design and accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Familiarity with data visualization (Power BI/Tableau), preferred
  • Functional knowledge of pedagogical approaches for adults
  • Ability to synthesize information and write reports
  • Knowledge and understanding of assessment and evaluation methodologies, preferred
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations
  • Ability to participate as a positive team player
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to student development and ability to motivate and work closely with students.
