Job Title: Production Manager - Landscaping Maintenance
Department: Landscape Maintenance / Operations
Reports To: Branch Manager
Location: Cambridge Landscapes - Belmont, MA and the Greater Boston Area
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Production Manager to join our landscaping business. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the production operations for the portfolio of work owned by the AM. You will lead a team of crew leaders, crew members, to ensure efficient day to day landscape maintenance execution, high-quality workmanship, and adherence to project timelines and budgets. Your strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills will be essential in driving productivity and delivering exceptional landscaping services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety: Create a Zero-harm work environment:
? Ensure compliance with national, local, and organizational health and safety regulations and policies.
? Uphold, promote, and monitor the safety culture created by the Branch Manager, ensuring a safe working environment. Conduct and document weekly safety topics.
? Train Crew Leaders / Members to identify and eliminate jobsite hazards
? Lead and ensure proper PPE & equipment selection
? Organize equipment rodeos in compliance with Branch Manager and EHS, to ensure all Crew Members are certified in the equipment they will use daily.
Job Quality Leading to Customer Satisfaction:
โ€ข Work with the Account Manager to clearly understand contract & client expectations and their high priority areas.
โ€ข Collaborate with Account Managers and Crew Leaders to implement corrective actions to ensure customer satisfaction.
โ€ข Communicate proactively with the Account Manager when there are quality issues to be addressed so they can in turn proactively communicate with the client.
โ€ข Address client concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally, striving to exceed client expectations.
โ€ข Conduct regular inspections of completed work to identify and address any quality issues or deficiencies
Production Team Leadership and Development:
โ€ข Provide leadership, guidance, and support to 3-4 Landscape Crews, crew leaders, field supervisors, and production staff.
โ€ข Recruit, interview, hire, train, and mentor production team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance.
โ€ข Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and address any performance issues in a timely and constructive manner.
โ€ข Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with site requirement, quality standards, and safety protocols.
โ€ข Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Operations & Labor Capacity Management:
โ€ข Ensure work is completed in an efficient and effective manner, proactively identifying areas for improvement and developing a team of problem solvers to address opportunities
โ€ข Understand the monthly budgeted/forecasted labor costs
โ€ข Learn, teach and monitor daily use of the time capture system used by the Crew Leaders and crews
โ€ข Align with the Account Manager and schedule work effectively and execute to beat budgeted / estimated hours, understand demand and reallocate resources to maximize capacity
โ€ข Seek to Continuously Improve operations by embracing a "Go & See" mentality; seek to learn why and how operations are being performed the way they are, and coach the team through developing ways to reduce Waste in the operations
โ€ข Develop, document, train, and monitor Property Operation Plans (POPs)
โ€ข Identify opportunities for broader process improvements and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
โ€ข Coordinate with the AM and Branch Manager on necessary headcount adjustments
Materials & Equipment Management:
โ€ข Ensure crews have the tools, equipment and materials to complete their work safely, and with high quality,
โ€ข Ensure crews maintain accountability for assigned equipment, conduct appropriate daily, weekly, monthly preventive maintenance and seek replacements when necessary.
โ€ข Allocate or reallocate resources as necessary to maximize efficiencies and control costs
โ€ข Maintain accurate records of resource usage, costs, and productivity metrics.
Team Collaboration:
โ€ข Actively participate in all branch operation activities, meetings and needs, from daily and weekly operational huddles / meetings, to taking on additional assigned duties that help the entire branch perform at a top level.
โ€ข Provide necessary updates to the team on initiatives or actions that affect them all
โ€ข Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
Requirements
Qualifications:
โ€ข 2+ years Proven experience in a landscaping production management role.
โ€ข Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
โ€ข Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
โ€ข In-depth knowledge of landscaping techniques, materials, and equipment.
โ€ข General computer skills and navigating computer applications
โ€ข Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address challenges and resolve issues during project execution.
โ€ข Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
โ€ข Understanding of safety protocols and compliance with local regulations.
โ€ข Valid driver's license and clean driving record
