Are you looking for a career as a Lab Tech Coordinator?  Look no further than Barnes Jewish Hospital! As a Lab Tech Coordinator at Barnes Jewish Hospital, you play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality patient care.

This position is in charge of ensuring that the workflow of the lab is maintained.  They are also in charge of working alongside the lab supervisor for specialty projects, CAP Surveys, maintaining rotation schedules, training new employees on lab associate duties or tech duties for embedding and cutting, while also embedding and cutting themselves.

Schedule

  • Full-Time | 40 hours per week
  • M-F, Rotating Weekends & Holidays
  • Day shift: 7am-330pm

Role Purpose

Performs all duties of a cytotechnologist or histotechnologist/histotechnician, utilizing the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of all patients and clients by providing quality results in a timely manner. Provides daily operational oversight (determine schedules, manage day to day workflow, and give input into an assessment or disciplinary action). Provides technical support to all bench level positions within Anatomic Pathology. May be responsible for one or more technical areas of focus, to include training, quality assurance, and technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed. Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.
  • Focuses on quality by assembling and reviewing statistical data and assuring performance of all quality control procedures. Ensures quality control and instrumentation maintenance records meet standards of accrediting and licensing agencies. Assist the department Lab Director and Lab Supervisors, as appropriate, in the implementation of new QC/QA policies and continuous quality improvement programs in accordance with the Quality Management Program. Provides support during inspections.
  • Oversees department operations in the absence of a supervisor. Coordinates the operation of the anatomic pathology information system within the laboratory.
  • Ability to perform, maintain quality, and troubleshoot testing in a broad range of histochemical, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent, and/or cytochemical procedures.
  • Mentors and/or trains new and established staff members and students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory. Participates in competency assessment of staff and proctors competency or proficiency testing.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
