The Parts Manager will oversee the business and administrative aspects of the Parts Department. The Parts Manager has leadership roles in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the parts department. Their primary goals are to ensure their team delivers excellent customer service while also generating optimum revenue. They train staff; manage budgets and other financial matters; oversee inventory and purchasing; and coordinate major orders with vendors. They are also accountable for confirming their staff maintains a safe and clean work environment and adheres to all company policies and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train parts department and warehouse staff
  • Organizes and oversees employees’ work and schedules.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance
    with company policy.
  • Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly,
    professional, and efficient manner.
  • Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
  • Provide and high level of service to internal and external customers.
  • Locate out-of-Stock parts from outside sources and submit emergency orders as needed.
  • Follow up on Back ordered parts.
  • Replenishes assigned inventory.
  • Assists Outside Sales Representatives with their orders.
  • Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
  • Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and understand the fluctuating needs for various replacement parts to excel in the role.
  • Ability to read work orders submitted by service department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
  • Computer proficiency
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Five years of experience in automotive shop
  • 1 year of experience in parts counter sales, or an Associate’s degree and 1 year of experience in the industry.
