Job description

Job Details:
Job Description:
Intel's Global Sourcing Equipment and Materials (GSEM) organization is seeking a Commodity Manager responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for Sub-Fab equipment, spares, and services. This role will focus on critical Sub-Fab systems including chillers, pumps, abatements, vacuum equipment, and other tool-related infrastructure components essential to semiconductor manufacturing operations.
The Commodity Manager will be responsible for supplier development, sourcing strategy, contract negotiations, risk management, and supplier performance management to ensure capability, capacity, quality, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity. The successful candidate will partner closely with technical stakeholders, factory operations, facilities organizations, and global sourcing teams to support Intel's growing manufacturing footprint in Oregon, Arizona, Ireland, and other ramping sites.
As Intel continues to expand manufacturing capacity globally, this individual will play a critical role in enabling site readiness and operational excellence by developing scalable supply-chain solutions, evaluating alternative suppliers and technologies, and proactively mitigating business continuity risks.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable operating strategically and tactically, influencing decisions across multiple organizations, and engaging with stakeholders ranging from engineers and factory leaders to supplier executives, Intel Directors, and Vice Presidents.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for Sub-Fab equipment, spare parts, and services that support Intel's technology roadmap and manufacturing objectives.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, development, and performance management activities to ensure long-term capability, capacity, quality, and cost competitiveness.
  • Establish strong partnerships with technical supplier owners, equipment engineers, factory operations teams, facilities organizations, and global sourcing partners.
  • Support new factory construction, startup, and ramp activities by ensuring supplier readiness and supply continuity for critical Sub-Fab infrastructure.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, pricing, and terms and conditions to optimize value and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with engineering, legal, finance, and operations stakeholders to define requirements, influence sourcing decisions, and negotiate technical and commercial solutions.
  • Monitor supplier operational and financial health, developing risk mitigation and business continuity plans as needed.
  • Evaluate market conditions, industry trends, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for alternative sourcing strategies and innovation.
  • Drive affordability initiatives through cost modeling, productivity improvements, value engineering, and structured supplier cost reduction roadmaps.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with Intel's quality, environmental, sustainability, safety, and business process requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional issue resolution efforts involving supplier quality, delivery performance, capacity constraints, and operational escalations.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that enable Intel to rapidly scale manufacturing operations while maintaining operational excellence.

Behavioral Traits
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate supplier performance, market dynamics, and business risks.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate long-range business objectives into actionable sourcing plans.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Build effective partnerships across technical, operational, and executive organizations.
  • Negotiation skills and business acumen.
  • Prioritize competing requirements and drive successful outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently while leading cross-functional teams.
  • Balance tactical execution with strategic planning.

Qualifications:

    • Procurement, supply chain management, commodity management, strategic sourcing, supplier development, or contract management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing sourcing strategies and supplier performance improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, finance, and legal organizations.
  • Analytical skills with experience utilizing data to support sourcing and business decisions.
