Role: System Administrator II

Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: 1 Year Contract with Possible Extension

Job Summary

IRG Clients is looking for a System Administrator II to support a highly available hybrid IT infrastructure consisting of Windows and Linux servers, on-premises systems, and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in server administration, cloud infrastructure, networking, virtualization, load balancing, firewalls, and system troubleshooting. This role will also support cloud connectivity, database migration, security, automation, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Windows and Linux servers in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Support AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, identity, and connectivity.
  • Configure and troubleshoot connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments, including VPNs, routing, and direct connectivity solutions.
  • Support database replication and migration between on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Perform system administration tasks including patching, deployments, configuration updates, backups, performance tuning, log analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Administer and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP load balancers, including VIPs, pools, SSL profiles, and health monitoring.
  • Support Palo Alto firewalls, including security policies, NAT rules, and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot networking issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, and load balancing.
  • Use PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor systems and investigate alerts using tools such as Splunk, CrowdStrike, Security Onion, or WhatsUp Gold.
  • Perform vulnerability management activities and implement security remediation.
  • Investigate and resolve system and infrastructure issues as part of incident response.
  • Support new system deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and automation initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, application, and database teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting Windows and Linux servers.
  • 5+ years of experience with hybrid infrastructure, cloud services, or cloud migration.
  • Strong understanding of high availability and system redundancy.
  • 5+ years of experience with PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
  • 5+ years of experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or similar virtualization technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
  • Experience with system monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
