Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to support accurate financial reporting and strengthen day-to-day accounting operations in Bronx, New York. This role contributes to monthly and annual close activities, account analysis, and compliance-focused reporting while partnering with cross-functional teams across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to turn financial data into practical business insight.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee key close-cycle activities each month, quarter, and year to help deliver complete and timely financial results.
• Draft and evaluate journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing financial activity for completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
• Manage inventory-related accounting tasks, including valuation reviews, reserve analysis, and reconciliation of inventory balances.
• Examine operating performance, research variances, and communicate findings with recommendations that support stronger financial outcomes.
• Contribute to the design and upkeep of accounting procedures and internal control practices that promote reliable reporting.
• Help ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audit support, and required tax or regulatory reporting, including preparation of schedules and documentation.
• Partner with operations, production, purchasing, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve financial processes and support business priorities.
• Take part in special assignments and process improvement efforts that enhance reporting efficiency and control effectiveness.• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or progressively responsible accounting role.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of journal entries.
• Strong background in account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
• Experience supporting fixed assets, fixed asset inventory, and inventory accounting activities.
• Familiarity with accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal control concepts.
• Ability to analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and communicate conclusions clearly.
• Proficiency in working across multiple teams while managing deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
