Job description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations. This position provides accurate and timely financial information to plant management and corporate leadership while supporting cost control, budgeting, inventory management, and operational decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily accounting activities for the poultry processing facility, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash transactions.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses.
  • Assist to ensure month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Monitor and analyze plant production costs, including labor, supplies, utilities, maintenance, packaging, and other operating expenses.
  • Track and analyze production variances, inventory usage, yields, and other key operational metrics.
  • Work with plant management to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist plant leadership with financial planning and decision-making.
  • Review purchase orders, invoices, expenses, and other financial transactions for accuracy and proper authorization.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company accounting policies.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, inventory accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to Plant Management and Corporate Accounting.
  • Develop and maintain reports and key performance indicators to measure plant financial and operational performance.
  • Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, or poultry environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of financial and operational data.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and plant operations personnel.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a management team.
