Job description

STV is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Specialist for our Geotechnical department at our Boston, MA office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and subsurface explorations to support infrastructure, transportation, and building projects.

  • Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions and prepare detailed geotechnical reports with design recommendations.

  • Perform geotechnical design calculations for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.

  • Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing submittals, performing field observations, and resolving geotechnical challenges.

  • Assist in preparing geotechnical engineering reports, specifications, and contract documents to support design and construction.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives and compliance standards are met.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree or higher preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, and building projects.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year.

  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., gINT, SLOPE/W, LPILE, PLAXIS 2D or 3D) and standard office applications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise technical reports and presentations.

Compensation Range:

$91,976.90 - $105,116.46
