Job description

Compliance Manager


Overview:


The Compliance Manager is responsible for leading direct reports and ensuring regulatory compliance across both customer and carrier operations. Working closely with the Director of Carrier and Operational Support, this role provides leadership and structure on the operations floor while aligning team performance with company objectives. The Compliance Manager oversees carrier vetting, onboarding, and compliance systems and supports brokerage teams with compliance guidance. The role also includes maintaining documentation, conducting audits, developing training programs, and mitigating risk through safety protocols and claims prevention strategies.


Responsibilities:


Regulatory Compliance & Carrier Vetting:

Ensure adherence to FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations by staying updated on legislative changes and implementing compliant processes. Oversee the onboarding and monitoring of carriers, validating operating authority, insurance certificates, safety ratings (e.g., CSA scores), and compliance history. Maintain an up-to-date carrier database to ensure ongoing compliance. Manage and support carrier relationships to ensure long-term partnerships and compliance.


Risk Management & Fraud Detection:

Develop and enforce risk management policies, including carrier contracts and safety monitoring. Identify, assess, and investigate risks and suspicious activity, conduct fraud research, and advise leadership on liabilities and corrective measures to mitigate risks.


Training & Development:

Develop and deliver training sessions for sales, operations, and tracking teams on compliance topics, including proper documentation, regulatory updates, and claims prevention strategies. Foster a culture of compliance and diligence within the team.


Internal Collaboration & Organizational Support:

Build strong relationships across departments and take on additional tasks as needed to support broader business objectives.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Previous supply chain experience required.
  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and email.
  • Time-management skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and comfortable dealing with regular situational ambiguity.
  • Ability and willingness to seek out work and the drive to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Knowledge of the activities and responsibilities involved in supporting the company.
  • Ability to analyze client activities, profiles, and information.
  • Understanding of the importance of meeting or exceeding established targets and ability to drive critical activities to completion.
