The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with practical field experience and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.

BIOFerm™ is a Wisconsin-based renewable energy company specializing in turnkey anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading facilities. Our mission is to provide sustainable and economical solutions for organic waste diversion, transforming food waste, manure, biosolids, and other organic materials into renewable natural gas (RNG), green energy, vehicle fuel, heat, and organic products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for renewable energy facilities, including power distribution, control panels, instrumentation, and PLC systems.
  • Create and review single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, cable schedules, load lists, and control system architectures.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and support procurement by evaluating vendor proposals and submittals.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process, and civil engineers to ensure complete and coordinated designs.
  • Work closely with EPC and construction teams during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, UL, IEEE, and local regulations).
  • Support PLC programming, automation integration, and instrumentation selection to optimize plant performance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control systems during commissioning and operation.
  • Maintain project documentation, as-built drawings, and electrical system databases.
  • Assist in developing standard design templates, best practices, and safety procedures for BIOFerm’s electrical systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and technical meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Travel occasionally to project sites and vendor locations for inspections, testing, and commissioning support.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Competencies & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering design, preferably within industrial, energy, or utility sectors.
  • Solid understanding of power distribution, MCCs, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and automation networks.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety practices (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Field experience in installation or commissioning preferred.
