Job Description

IDS is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer for ADG Creative, an IDS subsidiary to support a complex, technical program requiring the development, maintenance, and oversight of mission-critical documentation. This role involves creating clear, accurate, and accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences, supporting engineering, cybersecurity, and acquisition efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong experience interpreting complex technical material and transforming it into structured documentation that supports operational effectiveness and knowledge management.

Key Duties
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including user guides, reference manuals, training materials, requirements documents, reports, SOPs, and briefings
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Research and interpret highly technical source materials such as engineering drawings, system documentation, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, analysts, and technical teams to gather and validate information
  • Produce documentation supporting defense acquisition programs, cybersecurity initiatives, analytic tradecraft development, and DoD systems
  • Maintain ownership of documentation lifecycle, ensuring materials remain accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with evolving workflows
  • Provide expert-level technical writing, editing, and quality assurance across all phases of documentation development
  • Support knowledge management initiatives to ensure accessibility and usability of documentation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or related discipline
  • Four (4) additional years of technical writing experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience
  • Seven (7+) years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FS Poly) required
  • Demonstrated experience developing technical documentation for complex systems or programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Experience using Confluence
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional technical teams
  • Writing sample required
  • Background in cybersecurity is preferred but not required
Compensation
  • Salary $85,000k - $100,000k
