ClearanceJobs is actively seeking an HPC DevOps Engineer for our client located in Herndon, VA. Own end-to-end Linux/Unix DevOps operations across a classified HPC and mission research environment, including system administration, patching, hardening, and configuration management.
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows supporting multi-level secure enterprise systems.
Partner with scientists, developers, and mission users to optimize HPC workflows, port applications, and resolve performance bottlenecks to accelerate time-to-science.
Lead or independently execute system deployments and site stand-ups, coordinating across engineering, site staff, and program teams.
Develop and sustain DevOps automation processes for provisioning and configuration management in classified environments.
Produce and maintain technical documentation including deployment procedures, system runbooks, and user support materials. Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix DevOps engineering experience in enterprise or mission-critical environments, including system administration, automation, and configuration management with demonstrated ownership of production systems.
Proficiency in scripting and automation in at least 2 of the following: Bash, Python, Ansible, Perl, or Korn shell.
Experience designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines using any of the following: GitLab CI, GitLab, Git, SVN, or CVS.
Hands-on experience supporting HPC environments or scientific/research computing workloads.
IAT Level II certification required (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, or equivalent DoD 8570-compliant certification). Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with HPC job schedulers such as Slurm, PBS Pro, or LSF, or parallel computing frameworks (MPI, OpenMP, GPU acceleration).
Linux hardening and security compliance experience (STIGs, RMF, SCAP).
Background with multi-level security systems or classified enterprise deployments.
Containerization or orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Packer).
Prior experience supporting IC or DoD R&D or operational mission environments. Clearance Requirements:
Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph required at time of application.
