Job description

Description
The Assistant Manager at TASTE supports the General Manager (GM) in overseeing all aspects of our unique food service and gourmet retail operation. In addition to acting as the Manager on Duty (MOD) in the GM's absence, the Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining team morale, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
This position offers a direct path for future growth, including potential advancement to the General Manager role.
Starting pay is $14.48 per hour PLUS TIPS (averaging at $21.31 per hour for total compensation)
As the Assistant Manager, you'll lead the sandwich, salad, and prep teams to ensure every guest receives their order accurately, quickly, and with the quality that defines the TASTE brand.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations
  • Manage and motivate team members to maintain high performance, cleanliness, and efficiency
  • Ensure proper food safety practices, sanitation, and health code compliance
  • Accurately order, receive, and maintain inventory of all food products and supplies
  • Communicate menu updates, operational changes, and new procedures effectively to staff
  • Assist other areas of the store when needed, including front of house, delivery, and expo
  • Support and embody a positive, team-focused environment
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have reliable transportation and flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, with constant moving, bending, lifting, reaching, and turning during all shifts
  • Must be able to reach and grasp with hands, talk and hear from both close proximity and a distance, and taste and smell food items for quality control
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch, and lift/move at least 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally
  • Experience in retail or food service leadership preferred
  • Strong communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to multitask and lead a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude with a commitment to teamwork and service excellence
  • Passion for local food, hospitality, and community
