Job description

The CNC Machinist is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs to support milling and drilling operations, as well as troubleshooting and repairing automation equipment. This role ensures that machining processes meet dimensional, quality, and efficiency requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to ensure efficient and reliable production processes. They will also collaborate closely with Quality Team to make program adjustments based on inspection data and contribute to continuous improvement of machining processes.


Program Creation & Editing

Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for milling and drilling operations (2D and 3D).

Modify programs to correct dimensional deviations as indicated by Quality Inspectors.

Ensure all programs follow best practices for tool selection, speeds/feeds, and machining strategies.


Machine Operation & Setup

Set up and operate:

HAAS milling machines

Perform tool setups, work offsets, and verify machine readiness.

Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust parameters to maintain part quality while optmizing the process.


Quality & Inspection Support

Interpret dimensional data, blueprints, GD&T, and quality reports.

Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, etc.).

Work directly with Quality Inspectors to identify root causes of dimensional discrepancies.


Training & Collaboration

Train machine operators in machine operation and programming.

Communicate professionally with operators, supervisors, managers, and owners regarding quality or production concerns.

Participate in cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.


General Machining Tasks

Capable of building fixtures and gauges.

Safely operate a band saw and general shop equipment.

Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces.


Education- High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2–5 years of CNC machining and programming experience preferred.  Experience with HAAS systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of injection molding processes is a plus.


Skills- Strong understanding of CNC programming (2D/3D).  Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T. Proficiency with precision measuring equipment.  Basic computer skills and ability to work with CAM software (if applicable).


Knowledge- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving ability. Ability to prioritize daily tasks and work independently or as part of a team.  Good communication skills, professional demeanor, and willingness to engage constructively in discussions regarding quality. Not intimidated by constructive feedback or technical challenges.
