SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the Resort's financial operations. This position oversees daily financial reporting activities, manages cash and account reconciliations, supports compliance and audit processes, and serves as a trusted resource for accounting and operational leaders across the organization.
Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Accounting Manager partners with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide accurate financial information while helping drive operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Manage the integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger through ongoing reconciliation, review, and maintenance activities.

1. Provide backup support for Accounts Payable functions, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and workflow management in partnership with the Staff Accountant/AP Clerk.

1. Serve as a backup resource for the Reconciliation Auditor, supporting daily balancing and reconciliation activities as needed.

1. Monitor, track, and resolve NSF (non-sufficient funds) transactions and returned checks while maintaining appropriate documentation and follow-up procedures.

1. Review, code, and reconcile miscellaneous deposits to ensure accurate financial reporting and account classification.

1. Develop, analyze, and prepare ad hoc financial reports and operational analyses to support management decision-making.

1. Maintain sales tax compliance by monitoring tax accounts, researching regulatory changes, and preparing and submitting monthly sales tax filings accurately and on time.

1. Manage and maintain the Chart of Accounts and financial reporting structures to support accurate reporting and operational needs.

1. Partner with operational departments to maintain General Ledger mappings and tax configurations within Point-of-Sale systems, ensuring accuracy during product, pricing, and operational updates.

1. Collaborate regularly with department leaders and managers to promote financial best practices, strengthen internal controls, and ensure accounting processes are executed effectively and efficiently.

1. Foster and model a guest-focused culture by supporting exceptional service standards and reinforcing Grand Targhee Resort's commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

1. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls while supporting departmental and organizational goals.

1. Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and audit preparation.

1. Assist with external audits, tax reporting requirements, regulatory reviews, and other compliance-related initiatives by providing accurate financial information and supporting documentation.

1. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.

1. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.

1. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.

1. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.

1. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.

1. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position oversees two (2) employees in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
WORK SCHEDULE
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

• Two to four years of progressive accounting experience.

• Equivalent combinations of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.

• Experience in the ski resort, hospitality, or recreation industry is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.

• Experience with Microsoft Business Central, RTP, Agilysys, and Versa software is preferred.

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Collaborative mindset with a customer-service orientation.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts in practical operations such as; statistical analysis and creating spreadsheets.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, members of management, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to identify issues, analyze data, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions. Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret technical information, exercise sound judgment, and make informed recommendations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily performed in an office environment; however, employees may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions while working throughout the Resort. The work environment is generally moderate in noise level and supports collaboration across departments.
