Job description

We're looking for a High-Velocity Senior Engineer with 10+ years of experience who can independently design, build, and ship software products. This role is for someone who is looking to bring their experience from traditional development to the new era of agentic product development. We are looking for an individual who likes to move fast, drive innovation, and bring clarity to ambiguity.
You will own problems from concept through production, often with minimal direction.
The Ally Logistics team is committed to hustling each day, because #HUSTLE means something more here. Our mission as a company is To Move Freight, Better. This mission bleeds into everything we do, as we are continually on a quest for better - better service, better communication, better culture, better technology, better growth. Click here to learn more about what it's like to work at Ally Logistics.
The Role
Your primary project will be supporting the end-to-end advancement of our proprietary shipper TMS for Ally's customers. You will leverage tools such as Replit, Cursor, and Claude to ship new functions and features. Our focus will be to make a frictionless shipper experience with emphasis on UI/UX and strong integrations. This role is a hybrid of product management and engineering. You will get to define what the new age of software development looks like alongside Ally's CEO.
KEY ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
  • HUMBLE: Confidence is key, but so is humility. Our #HUSTLE values say it all.
  • HUNGRY: A healthy sense of competition is a necessity here. We're seeking individuals who are striving for both professional and financial success, and who are seeking any and all opportunities for growth.
  • SMART: We're looking for individuals who are resourceful and organized problem-solvers, diving head first into problems rather than straying away from them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, build, and ship high-velocity features for Ally's proprietary shipper TMS, with a focus on usability, performance, and reliability
  • Translate real-world logistics workflows into intuitive, scalable software that customers rely on daily
  • Act as both product manager and engineer-identifying opportunities, defining requirements, and executing without waiting for perfect direction
  • Leverage modern development tools (Replit, Cursor, Claude, and similar) to rapidly prototype, test, and release new functionality
  • Collaborate directly with the CEO and internal stakeholders to shape product strategy and define the future of software development at Ally
  • Drive UI/UX decisions to create a frictionless shipper experience across web-based tools and integrations
  • Build and maintain strong integrations with internal systems, carriers, and third-party logistics tools
  • Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term scalability
  • Monitor production systems, identify issues, and proactively improve stability and performance
  • Continuously iterate based on customer feedback, operational insights, and business priorities
  • Bring clarity to ambiguity by breaking down complex problems into actionable solutions and shipping quickly

BENEFITS & PERKS:
  • Health / Dental / Vision Insurance Plans
  • 401K Plan with Employer Match
  • Life Insurance Plan (100% employer paid)
  • PTO Plan (3 weeks PTO for new employees, grows with tenure)
  • 6 paid holidays
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Free professional coaching through Boon Health
  • Baby-feeding support and on-site Lounge through Pumpspotting
  • Comprehensive training program
  • Commitment to defend employees who have signed predatory non-competes (Learn more here)
  • Ongoing, in-house professional development
  • In-office gym complete with strength and cardio equipment as well as Peloton bikes
  • On-site snack machine
  • On-site golf simulator

QUALIFICATIONS:
A successful candidate must possess the following traits/skills:
  • 10+ years product engineering experience
  • Proven ability to build and ship full-stack applications using Replit or other vibe coding platforms
  • Experience owning projects independently with minimal oversight
  • Understanding of how logistics workflows actually operate
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours a week
  • Experience managing business priorities and the intersection of the business and its technology

Who Thrives in This Role
  • Self-led, independent builders
  • Engineers with strong product intuition
  • People who prefer shipping over debating
  • Those comfortable making decisions and learning as they go

Why Join Us
  • High autonomy and ownership
  • Direct impact on real logistics operations
  • Fast feedback loops
  • Opportunity to shape how software is built inside a logistics company

ADDITIONAL INFO:
  • This is NOT a remote position.
  • A cover letter is highly recommended, even if it's brief. Tell us why you are a fit!
  • Signing a non-compete agreement is NOT a prerequisite for employment. However, we do require all employees to sign our standard non-solicit and confidentiality agreement.

ACCOLADES & INDUSTRY AFFILIATIONS:
  • One of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies four years running
  • One of West Michigan's Best and Brightest Employers
