Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site Music Tech Operations Manager for the School of MusicThe Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Surack-Sweetwater Music Industry Building, including equipment inventory, maintenance, studio scheduling, and supervision of student workers. The annual pay for this position is $49,665.24.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage operations of the Music Industry Building, including equipment inventory, database tracking, maintenance schedules, and studio scheduling.
  • Provide technical production support for performances, including audio recording, live sound, and video recording/broadcast.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule student workers supporting recording and production activities.
  • Provide technical support to faculty and students for use of equipment and facilities.
  • Manage and maintain archival recordings and distribution processes.
  • Serve as recording engineer and event manager for assigned sessions and performances.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Technology, Recording, Production, or related field. *A High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of extensive professional experience in studio production and recording, and live event production will be considered*
  • Experience in studio production and recording, and live event production.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time while meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Knowledge of live concert and sound production, recording, and general lighting techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of audio systems, computer software, and file systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office, Airtable).
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in recording for classical and commercial music.
  • Experience with broadcast video systems Management experience.
