Description

The Geauga County Engineer is excited to add a Tax Map Manager to the team. Responsible for the supervision of the Tax Map department and the rigorous review of all instruments of conveyance for compliance with County Transfer and Conveyance Standards, performing highly technical survey and tax map preparation and analysis. Provides survey support and mentoring and serves as the primary liaison between the Engineer’s Office, the County Auditor’s Office and the County Recorder’s Office to ensure the accuracy of the Tax duplicate. Oversee the county’s official addressing records to ensure geographical accuracy for emergency services and public record consistency. Directs the creation and maintenance of the digital GIS maps, ensuring all parcel splits, consolidations, and annexations are accurately reflected. Provides technical assistance to the public, title companies, and attorneys regarding deed requirements, parcel identification, and historical map research.

Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) preferred. Five (5) years’ experience in surveying and GIS; extensive knowledge of Ohio land transfer law, metes and bounds descriptions, and the Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to surveying and mapping.

Knowledge of County addressing standards and protocols, Ohio Conveyance Standards (ORC 319.203); principles of GIS and CAD; legal terminology used in deeds and mortgages; local subdivision regulations; modern surveying equipment; AI concepts and prompts, advanced GIS software (ESRI/ArcGIS); drafting tools; and administrative software are preferred.
