Job description

The External Reporting Manager is an experienced accounting professional responsible for the preparation of Nuveen's quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting the financial consolidation and reporting process. This role holds primary accountability for the accurate and timely preparation of external financial reporting in accordance with. A key focus of this role is the hands-on preparation of financial statements and serving as a primary business user of Oracle FCCS, ensuring the system is effectively utilized to produce accurate and complete financial results.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepares and assists in the review of Nuveen's quarterly and annual audited financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and conformance with U.S. GAAP and internal reporting standards, and ensuring all deliverables are produced on a timely basis in accordance with established reporting calendars.

  • Serves as a primary business user of Oracle FCCS, managing day-to-day system operations including data inputs, consolidation runs, financial statement mapping, and reporting outputs to support an accurate and efficient close and reporting cycle.

  • Partners with the Data Operations and Technology teams to support system enhancements, user acceptance testing, and controls updates within Oracle FCCS, providing business user perspective to safeguard the integrity of reported financial data.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the financial reporting and consolidation cycle, leveraging Oracle FCCS capabilities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of reporting workflows.

  • Supports FP&A on Investor Relations reporting and other external-facing financial communications, ensuring alignment between audited financial results and management reporting narratives.

  • Coordinates with external auditors, legal, tax, and other key stakeholders to facilitate a well-controlled and efficient audit and reporting cycle.

  • Supports technical accounting assessments for proposed and executed transactions by researching relevant accounting literature and assisting in the documentation of conclusions in formal accounting memos.

  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures related to external reporting, contributing to a well-controlled and consistently documented reporting environment.
