What are Manager Epi Events?

A Manager Epi Events, or Manager of Epidemiological Events, is a public health professional responsible for overseeing the monitoring, investigation, and management of disease outbreaks and other epidemiological events. They coordinate response efforts, analyze data to track the spread and impact of diseases, and collaborate with health agencies to implement control measures. This role often involves supervising a team of epidemiologists and liaising with stakeholders to ensure effective public health interventions during events like epidemics, pandemics, or localized outbreaks.

How does a Manager of Epidemiological Events typically collaborate with public health teams and external stakeholders during an outbreak response?

A Manager of Epidemiological Events works closely with multidisciplinary public health teams, including epidemiologists, data analysts, and communications specialists, to coordinate outbreak investigations and response strategies. They also liaise with external partners such as healthcare providers, laboratories, and government agencies to ensure timely data sharing and effective intervention implementation. Frequent meetings, real-time data updates, and joint planning sessions are common, and the manager often serves as the central point of contact to streamline communication and facilitate rapid, coordinated action.

Familiarity with epidemiological data analysis tools (such as SAS, R, or SPSS), outbreak surveillance systems, and sometimes certifications like CPH (Certified in Public Health) are important.
