Traveling Electrical Project Manager – Data Center


Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Project Type: Hyperscale / Mission Critical Data Center
Employment: Full-Time
Travel: Traveling position


Position Overview

We are partnering with a leading national electrical contractor that is expanding its mission-critical team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

They are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of a major data center electrical package, working closely with field leadership, the GC, client and commissioning teams.

This position offers the opportunity to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of large-scale data center work across the U.S.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical construction activities across a large-scale data center project from planning through commissioning and turnover.
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents, General Foremen and field teams to drive schedule, productivity and quality.
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, change orders, procurement and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, short-term look-aheads and key electrical milestones.
  • Oversee procurement and delivery of major electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, busway and distribution equipment.
  • Coordinate with the GC, engineering teams, other MEP trades, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions and project documentation.
  • Identify potential schedule, cost and constructability issues and drive solutions.
  • Support energization, startup, testing and commissioning of critical electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, NEC requirements, QA/QC standards and safety procedures.
  • Manage client relationships and provide regular project progress and financial updates.
  • Support punch-list completion, closeout documentation and final project turnover.


Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager with an electrical contractor.
  • Strong commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
  • Data center / mission-critical experience strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of large-scale electrical distribution and critical-power systems.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement and change management.
  • Comfortable coordinating with field leadership and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel or temporarily relocate to Cedar Rapids, IA for the duration of the project.
