Job description

BALANCE eating disorder treatment center is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our growing team!

The Registered Dietitian plays an integral role in providing individualized nutrition care to
adolescents and adults receiving treatment for eating disorders. This position works
collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, evidence-based
nutrition counseling while supporting clients through every stage of recovery. The Registered Dietitian reports directly to the Director of Nutrition Services.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial nutrition assessments for prospective and admitted PHP/IOP clients
  • Provide weekly (or as clinically indicated) individual nutrition counseling and case
    management sessions
  • Develop individualized meal plans based on each client’s nutritional needs and treatment
    goals
  • Facilitate nutrition education groups and therapeutic meal support
  • Document all client interactions, assessments, meal plans, and progress notes in accordance with OMH standards and agency policies
  • Collaborate with therapists, psychiatrists, medical providers, and other members of the
    treatment team to coordinate care
  • Attend weekly clinical rounds and treatment planning meetings
  • Communicate with families and outside providers, as clinically appropriate
  • Provide nutrition education consistent with Intuitive Eating and the All Foods Fit
    philosophy
  • Remain current on evidence-based practices in eating disorder treatment through
    continuing education
  • Assist with program development, nutrition resources, and quality improvement
    initiatives as needed
  • Provide occasional coverage for nutrition groups or meal support when necessary
  • Support dietetic interns by serving as a clinical resource when assigned
  • Maintain all required professional licensure and continuing education requirements

The Registered Dietitian will also be responsible for maintaining appropriate credentials in
accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and completing all required Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Registered Dietitians are strongly encouraged to pursue obtaining their Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) credential.
