Job description

Rate of Pay: $18.81/ Hourly
Hours: Mon-Wed 3:15-6pm, Thurs 3:15pm-6:45pm, (2) Sat/Sun per month.
Position Overview: A Direct Support Professional plays an integral role in a supported person's life. The DSP will provide assistance, guidance, mentoring, coaching, and teaching in many life areas such as activities of daily living, personal care, life skills, community integration, and transportation navigation. The DSP will assist the supported person in enjoying the life that they want to live and increasing their quality of life by providing excellent services.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Individualized supports provided to waiver participants in their own homes, or family homes, to acquire the skills necessary to maximize their independence.
  • DSP will support person in accordance with the Person-Centered Plan, Behavior Support Plan (if applicable)
  • Staff will be required to utilize agency electronic systems for communication, progress notes, incident report filing, etc.
  • Encourage opportunities for decision making, self-help activities, and daily planning"
  • Follow schedule agreed upon at the time of hire.
  • Share and maintain required documentation of services provided.
  • Complete and maintain required trainings in accordance with DDA/State/Company regulations. This includes, and is not limited to, CPR/First-Aid, and Mandt System.
  • Report and document incidents within the required timeframe.
  • Foster positive, professional relationship with supported persons"
  • Document daily progress and maintain bi-weekly and/or monthly activity calendars as needed or directed.
  • Attend all trainings, team meetings, and monthly supervisions as required.
  • Check and respond to emails daily to maintain proper communication.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times when interacting with individual, neighbors, parents, advocates, consultants, and regulatory personnel.
  • Driving and community interaction is required. This may include, and is not limited to, attending various events, religious services, or activities.
  • Staff will be required to utilize agency electronic systems for communication, time and attendance, progress notes, incident report filing, etc.
  • Must have own reliable transportation that is safe, smoke-free, with adequate insurance coverage. Must provide a 1-year driving record with no more than 3 points on your record.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Division Director.

Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
Training and Experience:
Preferred DDA core competencies, Mandt Systems Training, CPR / First Aid, MTTP
Experience working with people with IDD/DD preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements: Applicant must be able to walk, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours. Person Applicant must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more based on assigned supported person (using health and safety lifting / turning techniques or assistive devices).
Applicant must be able to successfully demonstrate all Mandt Systems training physical interventions and techniques, to include assisting supported person to standing, providing assistance with ambulation, physical releases, and physical restraints.
