Job Description
The Maintenance Repairman supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mobile and stationary equipment. This role works closely with plant operators, production supervisors, and management to ensure equipment performance, minimize downtime, and uphold Carmeuse safety and operational standards.
Maintenance Repairman B - Day Shift - Safety Sensitive
Schedule: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday - Friday, Overtime as needed
Pay: $33.48/hr

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with plant operators and production leadership to support safe, efficient operations
• Perform safety and operational inspections on mobile equipment, process equipment, material-handling systems, emissions control equipment, and the general work environment
• Inspect, install, repair, and service stationary and mobile equipment
• Conduct maintenance and repair on mechanical systems including:
• Cables, pumps, screw conveyors, belt conveyors, bucket elevators
• Rotary valves, power transmission components, drag conveyors
• Pneumatic conveyor systems, fans, and related equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and diagnose root causes
• Adjust, clean, and lubricate mechanical components as needed
• Communicate replacement-part needs to supervisor
• Provide input and suggestions for problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Technical Competencies - will train as needed
• Welding (mandatory for all maintenance positions)
• Millwright skills

• Basic understanding of burners, burner systems, and burner control fundamentals
• Basic instrumentation and controls fundamentals
Basic Requirements
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
• Clear communication skills and ability to understand instructions
• 2+ years of mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment a plus, not mandatory
Technical Knowledge Needed
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, exploded views, parts lists, and equipment manuals
• Ability to write simple correspondence and communicate effectively with coworkers
• Strong understanding of basic mechanical concepts
• Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to safely follow detailed written or oral instructions
Soft Skills Needed
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Clear and concise communication on technical topics
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with management and coworkers

Physical Demands
This is a physically demanding role requiring:
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, and bending
• Use of hands for grasping, holding, turning, and manipulating tools and equipment
• Motor coordination, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination, and color discrimination
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs
Work Environment
• Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and irritating atmospheres
• Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions
• Work around moving equipment and potentially hazardous conditions
• Repetitive and continuous work tasks
• Must work safely around water and other environmental hazards
