Job Description:

The Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.

Role Overview:

The Music Research team works closely with production partners across The Walt Disney Company's iconic brands on music cue sheets for productions presented by our world-class entertainment studios. Our goal is to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of music reporting to performing rights organizations and interested parties worldwide. By doing so, the team supports royalty distributions, publishing revenue, and helps maintain compliance with industry reporting requirements. The Music Research Specialist also provides music identification expertise to partners across the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, review, edit, and finalize cue sheets for music reporting to PROs, sub-publishers, and various production stakeholders, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
  • Research and parse through multiple sources of information to build accurate cue sheets, including composer agreements, music licenses, PRO databases, music library portals, etc.
  • Onboard and train production parties to use the company's cue sheet program in order to deliver complete and accurate cue sheets.
  • Deliver finalized cue sheets and related reporting materials to appropriate stakeholders and interested parties.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external international cue sheet stakeholders.
  • Organize and prioritize assigned cue sheet work to meet quarterly deadlines, utilizing project management tools as needed.
  • Provide music identification services for Disney-owned productions.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance cue sheet quality, accuracy, and the overall operational efficiency of the team/department.
  • Any other necessary tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of cue sheet preparation experience
  • College Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience in or working knowledge of music publishing, performing rights, licensing, production/post-production in relation to industry-standard practices for film, television, and streaming cue sheets
  • Experience researching music rights and resolving discrepancies across multiple sources
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience with Soundmouse, RapidCue, or other automated cue sheet programs
  • Must be available to work onsite 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday). Fridays are remote with flexibility to work onsite as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience with digital audio workstations (DAWs), such as Apple Logic or Pro Tools, preferred
  • Musical experience or the ability to recognize and distinguish musical elements preferred
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $61,800 to $79,800 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
