Job description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Provide support in maintaining compliance with the Credit Union’s BSA/AML and OFAC Program, including the timely and accurately filing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), FinCEN 314(a) searches and OFAC compliance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs daily data quality reviews on feeds from the core to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) software related to wire transfers, official checks, cash advances and other transactions as necessary
  • Prepare daily cash transaction reconciliation to ensure reportable transactions are timely identified
  • Prepare or review CTRs to ensure transactions are accurately reported
  • Electronically file CTRs with FinCEN within regulatory timeline and track for proper acknowledgement/acceptance
  • Review suspicious activity correspondence from the front line and create alerts as necessary
  • Perform FinCEN 314(a) searches timely and accurately report matches if necessary
  • Review for OFAC/SDN list changes and timely perform updates in AML software and report matches as necessary
  • Routes, logs and processes restitution payments to ensure proper credit application
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and follow the requirements of regulations related to job functions including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
  • Responsible for completing BSA/AML compliance training annually
  • Maintain and share knowledge of AML regulations and best practices
  • Assists with special projects or other administrative tasks as necessary

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervise Approximately: None

Reports To: BSA Team Lead (CTR Focus)

Contacts: Primarily within Risk Management and Operations Department personnel.  May occasionally work with other internal departments such as information technology

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associates degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years’ experience with CTRs, teller operations or finance/accounting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical effort is minimal. However, wrist/hand/finger manipulation and movement are inherent with this type of work
  • Restriction to the workspace for prolonged periods typical for this position
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for frequent viewing of computer monitor and document review

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Consistent attention to detail is required, especially when reviewing reports and account activity
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and capable of making decisions independently when needed
  • Strong ability to read and carry out written and oral instructions
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities effectively
  • Ability to express thoughts and ideas effectively, both written and verbal
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with diverse personalities
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure, especially when facing deadlines or accuracy critical tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must exercise the highest level of discretion on internal and external confidential matters

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient with a personal computer using a Windows environment, fax, copy machine, ten key by touch, scanner and telephone
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and online search engines
