Job description

Position Summary

The Cut-Off Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring cut-off equipment in the plastics extrusion department. This position ensures that extruded plastic products are cut to the correct length and specification, maintaining quality standards and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

•      Operate cut-off machines and equipment in the plastics extrusion process to cut product to specified lengths.

•      Monitor the extrusion line to ensure product meets dimensional and quality specifications.

•      Perform routine machine setups, changeovers, and adjustments as directed by supervisors.

•      Inspect finished products for defects and remove or flag non-conforming parts.

•      Maintain accurate production logs and report output, downtime, and material usage.

•      Keep work area clean, organized, and in compliance with safety standards.

•      Follow all company safety policies, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

•      Communicate production issues or equipment malfunctions to the shift supervisor promptly.

•      Assist with other production duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

•      High school diploma or GED preferred.

•      Prior experience in plastics manufacturing or a similar production environment is a plus.

•      Ability to read and understand work orders, measurement tools (calipers, tape measures), and quality documents.

•      Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to perform minor machine adjustments.

•      Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

•      Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

•      Reliable, punctual, and able to work consistently.

Working Conditions

This position works in a manufacturing plant environment. Exposure to heat, noise, and plastic materials is expected. Proper PPE must be worn at all times. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
