Job description

CLUB QUARTERS HOTEL BOSTON - Assistant Engineering Manager - Evening Shift

Location:ย 161 Devonshire St - Downtown Boston | 178 Guestrooms | Historic Property

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, motivated Assistant Engineering Manager to join our team at a fast-paced, 178-room historic hotel. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility in a building that is always alive with guests, activity, and character.
You will work closely alongside our Maintenance Manager, who brings over 20 years of experience in the role and is deeply knowledgeable about the building. This is a rare opportunity to learn, grow, and develop your technical skills in a property where no two days are the same.
Why This Role Is Special

  • Our hotel is consistently busy, meaning your work has a direct and visible impact on guest experience.
  • The building is historic, offering the chance to learn systems, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills you wonโ€™t find in newer properties.
  • We believe strongly in collaborationโ€”maintenance is a key partner to all departments, not a silo.
  • There is room to grow, learn new skills, and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior spaces
  • Troubleshoot and address issues related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building systems
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests to support a high-quality guest experience
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager on preventive maintenance programs and larger projects
  • Support the care and preservation of a historic building, following best practices and attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively with Front Desk, Housekeeping, and other departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Represent the Maintenance Department with professionalism, teamwork, and pride

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Previous maintenance experience in a hotel, residential, or commercial setting preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
  • Willingness to learn and grow, especially in a historic property with unique systems
  • A team-first mindset and comfort working across departments
  • Professional demeanor and a service-oriented attitude
  • Flexibility with schedule as hotel operations require

What We Offer

  • Top-of-market compensation for this role, reflective of the responsibility, pace, and expertise required to support a high-demand, historic hotel
  • The opportunity to work in a well-established, high-demand hotel
  • Mentorship from an experienced Maintenance Manager with decades of knowledge
  • Exposure to a wide range of systems and hands-on learning
  • A collaborative work environment where your role truly matters
  • Growth potential within the maintenance department and the organization

If you take pride in your work, enjoy being part of a busy operation, and want to grow your skills in a historic hotel environment, we would love to meet you.
