Position Overview:

We are seeking a proactive, results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. This role is focused on new business development, lead generation, and client relationship management, with a strong preference for candidates who have successfully sold IT staffing, technology talent solutions, consulting services, or related workforce solutions. The ideal candidate understands how to engage technology, digital, product, data, and executive buyers; uncover business challenges; and position staffing and solutions-based offerings that help clients move faster. Experience selling AI, automation, data, cloud, or other emerging technology solutions is a strong plus.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead Generation: Actively identify and generate new leads through research, cold calling, and networking.
  • Prospecting: Utilize various outreach methods to connect with decision-makers in technology, digital, product, data, marketing, HR, procurement, and executive leadership roles, effectively introducing Onward's staffing and workforce solutions.
  • Sales Outreach:Maintain a high volume of outbound communication, including phone calls and emails, to engage potential clients and nurture relationships.
  • Client Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, identifying opportunities to expand into IT staffing, technology consulting, project-based workforce solutions, and emerging areas such as AI-enabled talent needs.
  • Interview Management: Coordinate and facilitate interviews with our clients, ensuring a smooth process for all parties involved.
  • Negotiate: Discuss and negotiate rates and contract terms with clients, ensuring alignment with both candidate expectations and client needs.
  • Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the team to develop and refine sales tactics that align with market needs, including consultative approaches for technology staffing, solutions-based engagements, and AI-related business initiatives.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about staffing, technology, digital transformation, and AI market trends so outreach can be tailored to client priorities, hiring needs, and business outcomes.
  • Reporting: Track and report on sales activities, pipeline progress, and lead conversion metrics to the management team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of business development or sales experience, preferably in staffing, recruiting, IT staffing, technology consulting, or workforce solutions.
  • Strong understanding of the staffing industry and recruitment process, with preferred experience selling IT, digital, data, cloud, product, engineering, or other technology talent solutions.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience selling consultative, solutions-oriented engagements is preferred; exposure to AI, automation, data, analytics, or emerging technology solutions is a strong differentiator.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and prospects.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
