Morningstar is a global leader in independent investment research, data, and investment management, with over $350B in AUM and operations in 32 countries. We empower financial professionals – advisors, asset managers, and institutional investors – with trusted insights and tools.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Marketing Manager, Content Operations to build and lead a new operational foundation for global content production. This role will design modern systems, workflows, governance frameworks, and operational models that enable scale and quality across marketing content. The ideal candidate is AI‑fluent—bringing emerging best practices, practical experimentation, and a strategic mindset about how artificial intelligence can transform content workflows, enhance quality, speed up production, and unlock operational efficiencies. You will help evolve our capabilities from foundational to mature, championing AI‑enabled processes while ensuring responsible, brand‑aligned, and compliant usage. This role is perfect for a process‑oriented builder who thrives in a dynamic environment, understands the entire digital content lifecycle, and can introduce structure, innovation, and operational excellence to a global organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and lead the global content operations function, setting the standards, processes, and systems that enable consistent and scalable content delivery.
  • Identify and implement AI‑powered tools and workflows that improve content planning, creation, editing, tagging, governance, quality control, and optimization.
  • Establish and manage global content calendars, production workflows, intake processes, prioritization frameworks, and resource models.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing Operations, Web & Digital Strategy, Creative Services, Research Amplification, and the Business Unit Marketing teams to streamline cross‑team collaboration and eliminate friction in the content lifecycle.
  • In partnership with the Audience Engagement Editor, develop and maintain governance frameworks, metadata standards, taxonomy, tagging models, and editorial guidelines.
  • Enhance CMS utilization and workflow automation; evaluate and implement modern content technologies, including AI‑assisted production tools, workflow systems, and knowledge management solutions.
  • Partner with Marketing Intelligence to embed performance insights into continuous improvement loops and operational dashboards.
  • Build operational reporting that provides visibility into pipeline health, production velocity, content quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Lead change‑management efforts to drive adoption of new systems, processes, and AI‑enabled workflows across global teams.
  • Manage a small team and/or external partners; oversee budgets related to content systems and workflow management.
Qualifications
  • 5‐10+ years of experience in content or marketing operations, content strategy, digital transformation, business process management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or scaling content operations within a global or complex organization.
  • Proven fluency with AI‑enabled content workflows, including experience evaluating, piloting, or operationalizing AI tools that improve content quality, efficiency, or governance.
  • Solid understanding of the digital content lifecycle, CMS platforms, workflow management systems, and editorial processes.
  • Experience building governance frameworks, metadata structures, and taxonomy systems.
  • Excellent project‑management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills; adept at driving alignment and change across cross‑functional teams.
  • Data‑driven mindset; comfortable translating insights into operational recommendations and workflow improvements.
  • Prior experience in B2B marketing, financial services, or research‑driven environments is a plus.
  • Certifications in Agile or Project Management also a plus.
  • Ability to work onsite 4+ days‑week Chicago or NYC.
