Job description

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an assigned shift within a roll stock warehouse and logistics facility. This position provides leadership and direction to warehouse employees while ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and customer requirements. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating staffing, monitoring productivity, maintaining inventory and product quality, addressing operational issues, and ensuring effective communication between shifts and departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate employees assigned to the shift.
  • Assign employees to work areas based on workload, staffing needs, and employee qualifications.
  • Ensure daily receiving, shipping, loading, unloading, storage, staging, and material handling activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Oversee the safe handling, movement, and storage of roll stock and other materials.
  • Monitor employee productivity, attendance, performance, and adherence to company policies.
  • Ensure employees follow all safety procedures, operating procedures, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Conduct shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, safety information, and operational updates.
  • Identify and report damaged product, inventory discrepancies, safety concerns, equipment issues, and other operational problems.
  • Monitor the condition and proper use of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Ensure work areas, docks, aisles, and storage areas remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Complete and maintain required shift reports, production records, inventory documentation, and other operational paperwork.
  • Coach employees and provide feedback regarding performance, productivity, safety, and conduct.
  • Assist with employee training, onboarding, and cross-training.
  • Address employee issues appropriately and communicate disciplinary or performance concerns to management and Human Resources.
  • Assist with safety investigations, incident reporting, inventory investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective communication and handoff between shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and effectively communicate with employees in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adjust to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to read and understand company policies, safety procedures, work instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use warehouse, inventory, timekeeping, and other operational systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, management, drivers, customers, and other departments.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and respectful work environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including some weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
  • Must comply with all company safety, attendance, drug and alcohol testing, and background check requirements, as applicable.
  • Must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Forklift or other material handling equipment experience preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or similar operational environment.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and forklift traffic.
  • Regular walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching are required throughout the shift.
  • Frequent use of industrial cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, pressure washers, and other sanitation tools.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on the task being performed.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, or flexible schedules to meet operational needs.
