Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop warehouse operations policies and procedures and communicate information to warehouse staff.
  • Maintain standards of health, safety, and security in the warehouse. Including communicating and enforcing company safety policies and safe work habits.
  • Serve as liason to customers and transport companies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the picking and receiving of materials.
  • Responsible for the efficient utilization of space and organization of the warehouse.
  • Responsible for inventory control procedures and ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and training of warehouse personnel as well as monitoring staff performance and conducting disciplinary and performance appraisal documentation.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment in the warehouse.
  • Responsible for communicating with Branch Manager and other company leaders on the status of the warehouse operations at the branch.
  • Responsible for the quality, accuracy, and customer service provided to customers through the warehouse operations.

Minimum Education, Training & Experience Required:
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent is required. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Delivery experience is desired. An understanding of HVAC parts and equipment is desired. A valid state driver's license is required. Must have basic computer and data entry skills. Must meet company driving requirements including possessing the appropriate class of license or CDL based on vehicles used at the branch.

Language Skills: Requires the ability to read and comprehend a variety of informational documentation, directions, instructions, methods and procedures and short correspondence. Requires the ability to write simple reports. Requires the ability to effectively and respectfully present information in one on one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. Requires the ability to use radio communication.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide.
Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect and measure items for proper length, width and shape. Must have sufficient visual acuity to properly place and align components.
Reasoning Ability: Requires the ability to solve practical problems. Requires the ability to read maps.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to raise, manipulate, and maneuver tools, components and materials and handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. There are occasional requirements to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms. Must have above average eye/hand/foot coordination.
Physical Demands: Must be able to physically lift equipment components, parts and machinery. Frequent standing, bending, stooping and/or walking are required. Must be able to use body members to work, move and lift or carry heavy objects, equipment or materials of up to 100 pounds. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and color vision as needed for driving and visual inspections of equipment and materials. Must have the ability to operate a forklift.
Physical Communication: Must have the ability to talk (expressing and/or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words) and/or hear (perceiving sounds of nature by ear).
Working Conditions and Hazards: Work is regularly performed in a warehouse that may be dimly lit with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles. There is risk of occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and gases, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat and loud noises. Must have the ability to operate a Company vehicle and travel throughout the service area.
