Job description

Job Purpose: The position of Warehouse Associate is responsible for all aspects of warehouse functions including the receiving, storing, handling, shipping and preparing of product for customer delivery while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly fashion.


Essential Functions

• Process and ship all sales orders and related tasks.

• Read customer orders, work orders or shipping orders to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped.

• Control inventory; count physical inventory; enter data into inventory records using computer and add or delete items to maintain appropriate balances in warehouse and toolroom

• Responsible for shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, matching receiving paperwork to purchase orders and checking in merchandise.

• Perform receiving inspection; control non-conforming products.

• Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or other designated areas.

• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type or product code.

• Ensure warehouse is organized, accessible and safe; maintain orderly work area.

• Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.

• Open bales, crates and other containers.

• Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via applicable software system.

• Complete and maintain QMS forms and documents.

• Operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and heavy lifting apparatus; operate office equipment.

• Maintain cleanliness of warehouse; sweep, dust and mop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• At least two years’ experience in warehouse related work preferred.

• Trained in proper use of hand truck, forklift or other heavy equipment.

• Familiar with MS Office and general computer applications.

• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

• Able to write routine reports and correspondence.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.

• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

• Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

• Operate forklift and other heavy equipment.

Work Environment

• Will spend majority of time in warehouse; may spend some time in office setting.

• Noise level will range from quiet to very loud.

• May involve hazardous materials, fumes, moving parts/equipment, electrical shock risk, extreme heat (welding) and extreme cold (liquid nitrogen).
