SUMMARY

The Receiver unloads product from trucks and reconciles product with receiving documentation. The Receiver is responsible for accurately matching SKU information/quantity ordered with purchasing paperwork also ensuring that product received is within acceptable shelf life and quality standards. The Receiver will also stack, wrap, and load received freight for delivery to other locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Arrive on time, take scheduled breaks and lunch, and complete daily work assignments.
  • Unload common carrier equipment and stage product.
  • Accurately reconcile product, quantity, shelf life, and quality to receiving documentation.
  • Receives all incoming product accurately and neatly via line-item receiver/handheld scanner.
  • Receives product properly following scanning procedures with clear understanding of procedures for overs/shorts and damaged product.
  • Communicate any receiving variances or SKU issues timely with inventory control or management.
  • Accurately and safely stack, wrap, and load freight for delivery after receiving.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures for paper flow and system receipt of product; sign off on all common carrier documentation.
  • Ensure all products are properly stored according to appropriate safety standards.
  • Ensure proper rotation of product and working on a “first in, first out” basis.
  • Ensures self and working environment are properly maintained and reflects company standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Use assigned tools and equipment safely and as instructed to minimize equipment damage to product.
  • Handle all inventory properly to minimize injury or damaged inventory.
  • Communicate professionally both verbally and in written form.
  • Builds relationships with customers, vendors, and delivery drivers by offering prompt, accurate, service while following proper procedures in the warehouse.
  • Promote a safe work environment at all times by modeling desired behaviors for self and others.
  • Dust, clean and maintain assigned areas.
  • Assist the Palmer Store Manager in retail warehouse if there are freight delays or nothing to receive.
  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager.
  • Meet or exceed all company safety and performance expectations, follow all handbook and operations policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Positive attitude, team focus – successful working both independently and cooperatively with peers.
  • Ability to complete daily workload as instructed in a high volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to read shipping labels and packaging, invoices, purchase orders, and all other shipping documents and match to visible items and other data.
  • Effectively communicate with others to discuss/confirm written information and/or give verbal directions to peers.
  • Ability to perform computer lookups/inquiries to determine product locations.
  • Vast product knowledge.
  • Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack safely.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, good decision-making skills, good attention to detail, and ability to communicate on a professional level.
  • Knowledge and practice of safe lifting techniques.
  • Ability to read, count, and write neatly to accurately complete documentation.
  • HS Diploma
  • Previous Warehouse/distribution experience, certified forklift operator required
  • 6-month experience with computers a must, able to understand MS Office Programs
  • Must be able to type accurately
  • Must be able to adequately speak, read and understand English


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Warehouse environment with variable temperatures/outdoor weather conditions, exposure to noise and vibrations from forklifts/other equipment, will work near moving mechanical parts, such as lifts.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Walking and standing for most of the shift.
  • Some stooping, kneeling and crouching, lifting.
  • Reaching and carrying with hands and arms.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate warehouse tools and equipment.
  • Able to hear and speak into telephone.
  • Close visual work on computer terminal.
  • Must be able to work with hay, straw, and other farm products
  • Must be able to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Able to work indoor and/or outdoor as needed, even in inclement weather.

Salary: $19.00/hour + DOE
