Commodity Manager – Kapco Grafton, WI

The Commodity Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Procurement and should have an understanding of chemistry and properties of metals and the associated impact on the manufacturing process. This candidate should also have a good understanding of Quality processes, as well as negotiating capabilities, good sourcing skills, and experienced communicator with suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follow commodity market trends to assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Track and report key functional metrics
  • Manage commodity costs while minimizing risk
  • Alleviate quality concerns and focus on developing supplier performance
  • Instruct and train commodity strategy within company
  • Partner with internal customers to improve manufacturing
  • Create commodity contracts with optimal terms and conditions
  • Serve as liaison and technical expert to Quality, Estimating and Sales
  • Enforcement of ISO standards and procedures within commodity
  • Evaluate, select and develop commodity vendors
  • Reject material disposition and follow-through with vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Supply Chain, Engineering, Metallurgy, or similar discipline preferred, or comparable work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years commodity or purchasing management experience with at least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
