Description
The College Store at Elizabethtown College is seeking a new store Manager.
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and ensure the efficient operation of the College Store, purchase and market College Store merchandise, as well as managing the store employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide direction and vision for the College Store, considering changes in the market and trends in the business
  • Complete and provide daily sales reports for the Business Office
  • Maintain departmental budgets; project store sales for future planning and ordering
  • Review the monthly expenses and notify the Business Office of any discrepancies
  • Oversee. Maintain and upgrade the point of sale system
  • Maintains and upgrades the Kodak Kiosk
  • Manage the ordering of merchandise for special events at the College
  • Manage the ordering, receiving and pricing of materials in the store, as well as identify opportunities to purchase new/different merchandise to keep customers engaged.
  • Rotate merchandise to clearance when it has not sold in a timely manner or has become no longer valid/outdated.
  • Maintain current inventory and ensure proper stock levels.
  • Maintain online store-InSite with a fresh mix of clothing and merchandise; promote sales and fulfill orders in a timely manner; remove inventory from site when no longer available or currently out of stock; maintain backorders and cancel orders that cannot be fulfilled in a timely manner
  • Updates and maintains the College Store .edu website.
  • Plan special sales and promotions at the store throughout the year together with the Assistant Store Manager.
  • Have a proven ability to foster excellent constituent relationships (i.e. students, faculty, customers, vendors, etc.)
  • Review vendor relationships and evaluate/compare with other options in the marketplace to ensure best quality and pricing.
  • Rotate physical merchandise and displays within the store to provide a fresh look for customers.
  • Participate in miscellaneous clerical and manual activities, such as operating point-of-sale terminals and restocking and organizing merchandise
  • Maintains communications between the store and campus community via Campus News and social media platforms.
  • Oversee that the store is clean, organized, and always presentable; that merchandise is ordered, priced, and stocked
  • Order academic regalia for faculty, staff and students for commencement and convocation.
  • Maintain accounts receivable, payable and the PCard for the College Store
  • Manage physical inventory process at end of fiscal year, and provide results to Business Office.
  • Hire and coordinate schedules for student and part-time staff.
  • Oversee course material adoptions (textbooks)
  • Manage and approve work hours on Time Advantage for hourly staff and student workers.
  • Purchase store use supplies: POS receipt tape, printer/fax supplies, bags, gift certificates, purchase reqs, purchase order forms, pricing labels, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Fill in all store operations in staff absences
  • Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position directly supervises the Assistant Store Manager, part time employees, and student employees. This position is required to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Elizabethtown College's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining individuals; appraising individual performance; and resolving complaints.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree is preferred; plus five to eight years of retail management experience, preferably in a college store; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
This position requires a valid driver's license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver's license for at least three years; a motor vehicle record check will be run and the incumbent must pass the College's MVR rating system).
