Job Description:
The Research and Evaluation Methodology Program at the University of Florida invites applications for two Postdoctoral Scholar positions. The Postdoctoral Scholars will work with Dr. Wei Li on developing methods and tools for the design and analysis of longitudinal experimental and quasi-experimental studies, conducting Monte Carlo simulations, cleaning and analyzing longitudinal data, presenting findings at academic conferences, and drafting academic papers.
The ideal candidates should have expertise in designing and analyzing longitudinal studies using multilevel modeling, difference in differences (DID), or comparative interrupted time series (CITS) design, as well as experience with statistical software like Stata or R for simulations and package development. However, candidates with expertise in other areas, such as econometrics, causal inference, experimental and quasi-experimental design and analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, and missing data are also encouraged to apply.
A qualified candidate must hold a doctoral degree or have completed all of the requirements for a doctorate in quantitative research methods, statistics, or a closely related field. Ideally, one candidate would start soon (e.g., Fall 2024 or Spring 2025), while the other would begin in Summer or Fall 2025, with some flexibility in the start dates.
This is a 12-month position funded through an NSF CAREER project on the design and analysis of longitudinal experimental and quasi-experimental studies in STEM education. The position is appointed yearly with the potential to be renewed for multiple years. This position is a time-limited position, and continuation of this appointment is contingent upon research needs and satisfactory performance in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidates will possess expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Longitudinal data analysis methods such as multilevel modeling, panel data analysis (e.g., two-way fixed effects model), recent developments in DID methods for staggered timing, or CITS.
  • Conducting Monte Carlo simulations using R or Stata.
  • Developing R/Stata packages and/or R Shiny Apps.
  • Cleaning, managing, and analyzing large-scale longitudinal data using Stata, R, or SAS.
  • Causal inference, experimental/quasi-experimental design and analysis.
  • Missing data analysis for longitudinal or multilevel studies.

About University of Florida

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

The University of Florida is one of the top ranked public universities in the United States (ranked top 5 amongst public universities in 2023 US news and world report). It is one of only a few comprehensive universities, having medical, veterinary, dental, nursing, public health, and engineering disciplines all co-localized on the same, contiguous campus to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration. Gainesville is located in the northern region of Florida, within 1-1.5 hours of each coast, and just 1.5-2 hours to Orlando and Tampa. It is a small to medium-sized city with a low cost of living, excellent public and private schools, and southern hospitality. While Gainesville is widely recognized as the home of the Gators, it is quickly becoming known as a center for innovation and a place with a lifestyle that's comfortable for families, yet attractive for young professionals.
