The Candidate

Are you passionate about driving the clean energy transition and believe renewable energy trading plays a pivotal role in addressing climate change? We are seeking a motivated and dedicated professional to join our dynamic team, focused on superior performance in the renewable energy sector. As a Sales Trader, you will leverage your expertise in sales and trading to help shape the future of renewable energy markets, with a specific focus on power, renewables, and environmental attributes.

With experience in energy commodities, such as electricity, renewable energy credits (RECs), carbon offsets, or other environmental products, you are eager to sharpen your commercial skills and expand your impact in the renewables space. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of certificates energy markets and is skilled at identifying market opportunities while managing associated risks. Confidence combined with an openness to feedback and collaboration is key to success in this role.

We are looking for someone ready to grow both personally and professionally, who will help drive the expansion of our company's renewables business within the U.S. and on the global stage. You will play an integral role in achieving our goal of advancing the clean energy future through innovative and sustainable trading solutions.

The Role

As a Sales Trader, you will be responsible for structuring and executing REC and carbon offset transactions within the U.S. renewable energy market. You’ll work closely with a team of experienced professionals who have a proven track record in trading environmental commodities.

Your primary focus will be to expand the REC trading book by building and nurturing long‑term client relationships, mapping the REC market, and identifying key trading opportunities. You will source and execute transactions in both compliance and voluntary REC markets, navigating the complexities of regulatory environments and renewable portfolio standards (RPS) in various U.S. regions. A key part of your role will be gaining or possessing deep expertise in the REC market, understanding pricing dynamics, regional differences, and the overall landscape of renewable energy credits.

You will take full ownership of the trading process, from managing junior traders to identifying and capturing trading opportunities in the evolving REC market, executing deals, and ensuring seamless post‑trade execution. Your expertise in RECs will allow you to position the team strategically, helping to meet the growing demand for renewable energy and contributing to the U.S.'s clean energy goals.

  • Cold Calling
  • Communicate daily with your team, mid‑office, risk and management
  • Engage with our counterparties, exchange information and needs
  • Transform these needs into concrete trading opportunities
  • Actively approach new customers to build the customer database
  • Conduct local market and product research on the environmental commodities markets
  • Contribute to the company's growth efforts
  • Manage and if necessary aid and assist with the post‑trade logistics of pending trades
  • Manage sustainability requirements of your products and clients
The Requirements

In order to be considered for the role you will meet the following:

  • Fluent in English, another language is a plus
  • Authorize to work in United States of America
  • Bachelor’s degree, for instance Commodity related programs, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or similar is a plus
  • Minimum 2 year’s experience in, sales (trading roles a plus)
  • Articulate, precise and excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with trading commodities is a must
  • Experience with Renewables is considered a plus
  • Willing to relocate to Houston, Texas.
