Job description

Part-Time Event & Venue Associate
Flexible Schedule | Evenings & Weekends | Great Supplemental Job
Love the energy of events and being part of what makes them happen? Mark Arts is looking for a friendly, dependable Event & Venue Associate to help create great experiences for guests during private rentals, celebrations, fundraising events, and special programs.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible, supplemental work in a fun, creative environment. Hours vary based on our event calendar, so no two weeks-or events-look exactly the same.
What You'll Do
You'll be one of the go-to people helping events run smoothly from the time vendors arrive until the doors are locked at the end of the night.
Essential functions include:
  • Welcome and assist rental clients, guests, vendors, and event partners
  • Assist vendors with facility access, arrival, setup questions, and departure
  • Help ensure event spaces are ready and remain welcoming throughout events
  • Assist Mark Arts staff with guest check-in and basic event technology
  • Monitor events and respond to guest, client, or vendor needs as they arise
  • Assist with attendance counts and basic event documentation
  • Support Mark Arts fundraising events, programs, and special events
  • Assist with food and beverage cleanup, including clearing glassware, emptying trash, wiping tables, and operating the commercial dishwasher
  • Perform light cleanup during events and rentals, including sweeping and responding to spills
  • Help troubleshoot unexpected situations and communicate concerns to the appropriate staff member
  • Identify facility concerns or needed repairs and report them promptly
  • Complete closing procedures, including checking event spaces, securing the building, and ensuring lights and thermostats are appropriately set
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support events, rentals, and facility operations
You Might Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Enjoy working with people and providing excellent customer service
  • Are dependable, responsible, and comfortable working independently
  • Can stay calm, friendly, and solutions-focused when things get busy
  • Communicate well with guests, vendors, coworkers, and the public
  • Exercise good judgment when handling unexpected or time-sensitive situations
  • Are willing to jump in and help wherever needed
  • Like variety and don't need every shift to look exactly the same
Education & Experience
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in events, hospitality, restaurants, catering, customer service, venues, or a similar environment is preferred but not required

If you're reliable, comfortable working with people, and willing to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don't have formal event experience.
Position Type & Expected Hours
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with fluctuating hours based on event and rental bookings. Evening and weekend availability is required. Shifts and weekly hours will vary based on the Mark Arts event calendar and organizational needs.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
  • Stand, walk, and move about event spaces for extended periods
  • Frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch during setup, cleanup, and event support
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 30 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Use hands and fingers to handle glassware, operate a commercial dishwasher, and manage basic event technology
  • Communicate clearly and exchange accurate information with guests, vendors, and staff
  • Work in an environment that may include periods of increased noise, activity, and foot traffic during events
Work Environment
This position primarily works indoors within the Mark Arts facility, with occasional support for outdoor or adjacent event spaces. The environment is fast-paced during active events and quieter during setup and closing. Evening, weekend, and occasional holiday work is expected based on the event calendar.
Compensation
This is an hourly, part-time position. Pay is commensurate with experience.
