Title: Research Fellow - Biomedical Engineering - Atukorale Lab

Job Summary

The Atukorale Laboratory is part of UMass Amherst Biomedical Engineering that is located at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester. This position will be based in Worcester, MA.

Essential Functions

Perform scientific studies and collect/analyze data involving but not limited to the following experimental areas: Nanomaterials synthesis and chemistry, materials characterization, mammalian cell culture, a range of molecular biology assays, animal husbandry, animal surgery, animal imaging, and animal treatment studies.
Responsible for fundamental laboratory management, such as quality control of reagents and maintenance of equipment.
Prepare scientific manuscripts for submission and navigate the peer-review process.

Other Functions

Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or closely related fields is preferred.
Ability to use sound judgment in normal and emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or closely related fields is preferred.

Additional Details

Initial appointment for one (1) year with additional reappointments as long as research funding exists.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a laboratory or healthcare setting and may involve exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases. Requires standing for extended periods of time and/or use of protective gear.

Work Schedule and Work Arrangement

Monday-Friday, 40 hours, 9am - 5 pm, benefitted

Salary Information

The annual salary range for this position is $45,000 - $51,000.
