Who we are looking for?

We are searching for an Manufacturing Engineering Technologist to join our team that is ready for a challenge and looking to make a difference. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for the manufacturing, assembly, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic instrument systems. The Manufacturing Engineering Technologist will serve as a key liaison between Production and Engineering by supporting manufacturing operations, resolving technical issues, improving processes, and ensuring products can be manufactured efficiently while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance for the core purpose of improving patient outcomes and saving lives globally.


Key Responsibilities:


Manufacturing

  • Provide technical support for assembly, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrument systems, PCB assemblies, and electro-mechanical components.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues related to product performance, assembly processes, and test failures.
  • Support production personnel in identifying and resolving technical issues during manufacturing activities.
  • Assist in the disposition and investigation of non-conforming materials and products.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes and manufacturing improvements.


Testing and Calibration

  • Perform and support testing, verification, troubleshooting, and calibration activities for manufacturing equipment and finished instruments.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of test procedures and calibration methods.
  • Investigate failures identified during manufacturing testing and determine root causes.
  • Maintain calibration records and support equipment qualification activities as required.

Instrument Maintenance and Service

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and field-returned instruments.
  • Diagnose, repair, and document instrument failures involving electronic, electrical, mechanical, and software-controlled subsystems.
  • Maintain maintenance records and service history in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Support development and continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and service work instructions.
  • Identify recurring equipment or instrument issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, reliability, and throughput.
  • Lead or participate in root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions for recurring manufacturing issues.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement process improvements, fixtures, tools, and testing methods.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, rework, and production downtime.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.


Engineering and Production Support

  • Act as a technical liaison between Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain departments.
  • Provide manufacturability feedback to Engineering during product development and design changes.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI), design transfers, and technology transfer activities.
  • Assist in evaluating production processes and recommending improvements to improve product consistency and manufacturing effectiveness.


Quality Systems

  • Complete manufacturing records, reports, investigation documents, and technical documentation accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, regulatory requirements, and internal Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
  • Support change control, CAPA, NCR, validation, and risk management activities as applicable.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement activities.


Support Activities

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, procedures, technical documents, and training materials.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production personnel.
  • Participate in equipment validation, process qualification, and verification activities.
  • Participate in the evaluation and updating of bills of materials.
  • Support cross-functional projects related to manufacturing scalability, efficiency, and product quality.


Health and Safety

  • Follow all workplace and manufacturing safety procedures and requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
  • Ensure manufacturing activities are performed in accordance with company health and safety policies.


Education, Work Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:


Formal Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement training is considered an asset.
  • Occupation First Aid level 1 or higher is an asset.


Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, instrumentation, or technical operations.
  • Experience with PCB assembly, electronics troubleshooting, testing, and calibration.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (medical device, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or similar industry) is preferred.


Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, process optimization, and root-cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and calibration devices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); ERP system experience is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing business needs.

The starting salary for this position ranges from $65,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Our salary structure is aligned with market standards and is finalized considering factors such as job-related expertise, skills, education, and experience.
