Scientist, Biochemistry I or II

Position Summary:
This position will be part of development and manufacturing team to assist commercialization of sequencing platforms. They will be responsible for production of recombinant proteins conforming to product specifications. The ideal candidate would have broad knowledge in protein chemistry/molecular biology, and extensive experience in manufacturing protein products under ISO environment. They will be familiar with analytical tools used for characterization of enzymes, and skilled in troubleshooting and developing corrective solutions. The candidate must have strong collaborative and teamwork attributes
Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute studies to develop and improve robustness of protein manufacturing processes
  • Process protein production orders and execute reagent manufacturing activities in a timely manner
  • Maintain records and production environment in compliance with quality standards
  • Conduct troubleshooting on issues which arise during routine production
  • Maintain, qualify, and validate equipment as appropriate
  • Perform quality control tests
  • Assist in inventory management and ordering materials
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure on-time completion of production builds
  • Conduct development and technology transfer of reagent manufacturing processes and documentation
  • Conduct new process development and transfer to production

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of MSc degree in Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related scientific discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry
  • Experience of minimum of 3 years in recombinant protein production, preferably with DNA polymerases
  • Experience working with affinity chromatography, IEX, HIC, and SEC, preferably for recombinant protein from bacterial expression system
  • Substantial experience with automated chromatography stations such as AKTA systems
  • Experience in analytical methodologies for protein characterization including HPLC, enzyme kinetics, protein quantification, spectrophotometer, SDS-PAGE
  • Experience in formulation and filtration techniques, such as TFF
  • Team player with the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in PLM and ERP systems
  • Experience in ISO 9001 and 13485 regulated environments
  • Knowledge of Next-Generation Sequencing
