Department: Business Strategy & Analytics
Reports to: Director, Business Strategy & Analytics
Classification: Full-Time/Exempt
Summary/Objective
The Analyst position is responsible for collecting and synthesizing information, conducting analysis, and presenting insights to support strategic business decisions. This position will work across Astros business operations departments to collaborate on solutions and implement new initiatives. The Analyst will be a key contributor to the department mission of increasing long-term revenue, improving fan experience, and creating operational efficiency.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Integrate and model data from multiple structured and semi-structured sources into organized data sets.
  • Build predictive models to support ticket forecasting, ticket pricing, marketing and advertising allocation, and operational planning.
  • Write, build, and analyze fan-focused research surveys.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance data analysis, automate workflows, and surface insights more efficiently.
  • Think analytically with the ability to interpret trends, identify drivers, and surface actionable insights.
  • Identify best practices across sports and business to bring to the Astros.
  • Build data tools and visualizations to provide reporting and insight into the Astros business.
  • Present data insights and recommendations to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or other data-related discipline
  • 1+ years of related experience in business, consulting, finance, business analytics, sports and entertainment, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of statistics e.g., predictive modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design
  • Advanced SQL expertise for querying, transforming, and creating large datasets across multiple tables
  • Experience working with data visualization e.g., Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI
  • Experience working in Python or other statistical programming language
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses in plain English
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, even when requirements are evolving

Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to own problems end-to-end, working through ambiguity, data limitations, and changing requirements
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting issues independently and driving solutions without waiting for direction
  • Strong attention to detail with a bias for action - able to identify issues, investigate root causes, and resolve them quickly
  • Highly resourceful and quick learner, able to figure things out with limited guidance
  • Comfortable operating in environments where not everything is defined - you move work forward instead of getting blocked
  • Experience designing and writing primary research surveys
  • Passion for baseball

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
