Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and organized Fleet Manager with some Automotive Technician experience to oversee the maintenance, repair, and performance of our fleet vehicles. This role combines hands-on automotive repair with fleet management responsibilities, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with company and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the company fleet.
  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on gasoline and diesel vehicles.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain accurate service, repair, and inspection records.
  • Coordinate vehicle inspections, registrations, and licensing.
  • Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, and maintenance costs.
  • Order and manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, repair shops, and suppliers when necessary.
  • Respond to emergency roadside repairs and vehicle breakdowns.
  • Train drivers on proper vehicle operation and maintenance reporting.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and fleet performance metrics for management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Automotive Technology preferred.
  • Previous fleet management experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred if applicable).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with fleet management software and maintenance tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
