Job description

Provides oversight of a team responsible for the planning, administration, and support of the firm's enterprise applications. This includes management, design, development, implementation, training and maintenance of databases, vendor provided software, software as a service, and other solutions which support litigation activities and administrative functions. May perform some duties directly.
Works with consultants and management teams in the firm to determine which applications and software are most appropriate for specific projects. Plans for the purchase or development of solutions.
Uses advanced project management skills to prioritize and direct the assignment of work and projects to realize firm goals for the group.
Leads issue resolution efforts when supported software is not performing as expected, which may require external vendor support.
Conducts evaluations of software and its installations to determine if it meets firm needs and standards and can be integrated into the systems successfully.
Develops staff through mentoring, formal training, and on the job development opportunities.
Manages the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of Microsoft Office products, the firm's Document Management System, and other legal specific applications.
Advises management on all areas related to advancements in technology that will benefit the firm and advises on any research findings that will help the firm position itself strategically in the realm of technological advancements.
Ensures the team is trained and prepared to administer and support solutions.
Prepares the area's annual budget.
Participates in the firm's Disaster Recovery activities.
May be required to travel with minimal notice.
Uses management skills to motivate and direct assigned staff, including preparing and conducting performance evaluations.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in computer science or related discipline; or four years advanced experience in systems administration; and three to five years supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, two to three years experience managing technical professionals is required.Advanced level technical expertise in the areas of document management, systems administration, database administration and operating system functionality. High level of knowledge of network operations, system administration/management, applications administration/management and PC hardware and software. Proven skills in maintaining computer system network and application or hardware platforms in a system administration and system management capacity. Understanding of end user needs to increase user efficiency.
