For over 60 years, our materials have enabled the safe and reliable use of electrical equipment to transform electrical energy into mechanical work. As the industry evolves with the mega trend of electrification, we are innovating to shape the future of electrified motion.  The Global Rotating Machine and EV Application Development Manager will lead global technical strategy, application development, and customer-facing support for Nomex® electrical insulation systems used in rotating machines, electric motors, generators, and EV drivetrains. This role combines leadership with hands-on application development expertise, serving as both a manager and individual contributor to advance business priorities, identify emerging market needs, and guide technology programs that support growth and innovation.  This position reports directly to the Global Technology Manager for Energy Solutions and Aerospace.

This position can be located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, UK, Spain, Luxembourg, China, Korea, Japan

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include consolidating regional trends, customer needs, and technology priorities into a coordinated global view for rotating machine and EV applications; representing the team in leadership meetings by providing project updates, technical recommendations, and input into segment strategies; and leading, coaching, and developing a global technical team while maintaining individual contribution as an application development expert. The role also sets direction for research and development programs supporting Nomex® electrical insulation products and systems for OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and industrial customers; manages long-term electrical insulation systems development, including specification development, testing programs, data analysis, and interpretation of lab and field results; provides voice-of-customer input to material development engineers and commercial teams to guide new product development and application improvements; partners with Sales and Marketing to support existing customers, identify unmet needs, and translate industry trends into actionable technology and business plans; and participates in regional and global standards organizations while developing publications, papers, or technical communications that share research findings with the industry.

Scope of Expertise

The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of rotating machine and electric vehicle drivetrain design, testing, manufacture, operation, and insulation system performance. The role requires technical expertise across electrical insulation materials and systems, insulation material fabrication, material evaluation methods, and high-performance applications for motors, generators, and related electric drive components.

This leader will work across technical, commercial, marketing, laboratory, regional, and customer-facing teams to align technology programs with business direction. The position will identify new industry trends, support development of new materials and insulation systems, and ensure that technical programs address customer needs in global rotating machine and EV markets.

Required qualifications include at least five years of team leadership or management experience, along with five or more years of hands-on experience in rotating machine design, EV drivetrain design, manufacturing, and/or insulation system testing. Candidates must hold a BS degree or higher in an Engineering or a relevant technical discipline and should demonstrate fluent verbal and written English communication skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office.

The role requires deep knowledge of electrical insulation materials and systems development, strong technical problem-solving capabilities, and a proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to develop and commercialize new products and applications.

Candidates must be able to analyze data and communicate insights clearly to internal and external stakeholders. They should bring an established industry value-chain network, demonstrate initiative in identifying problems and proposing solutions, and proactively contribute to product development and customer issue resolution. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, skilled at leading and mentoring diverse teams, and effective in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

They should also be able to influence across regions, functions, and technical disciplines without relying solely on formal authority, supported by strong strategic thinking, an innovation mindset, learning agility, and entrepreneurial initiative.

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies

Preferred candidates will have experience with high-frequency electrical systems, power electronics design, emerging EV drivetrain technologies, and regional or global standards development for rotating machines and/or EV drivetrains. An Electrical Engineering degree of BS or higher, Salesforce.com experience, and language capabilities beyond English are also preferred, particularly to support collaboration with global customers and cross-functional internal teams.

Travel and Work Environment

The role requires flexibility to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, global environment. Frequent business travel within the home region is expected to be up to 25%, with international travel to support customers, technical programs, industry organizations, trade shows, standards development and global team collaboration.
