Software Release Manager

Position Summary

Avum is looking for a highly organized and detail-driven Software Release Manager to lead end-to-end coordination of software releases. This role owns the end-to-end release lifecycle, establishing structured, consistent processes that align to engineering and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will drive planning, manage dependencies, and ensure reliable, seamless delivery while building scalable systems that reduce complexity. With a hands-on, data-driven approach, the ideal candidate will continuously improve release performance and enable faster, more confident execution in a high-grow environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to define release plans aligned with business objectives and project timelines.
  • Manage the end-to-end release lifecycle, including scheduling, coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that may impact release quality or timelines.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure releases meet quality standards and are free of critical defects.
  • Maintain accurate release documentation, including release notes, deployment procedures, and version control information.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment across cross-functional teams throughout the release process.
  • Work alongside the current Release Manager, sharing responsibilities with defined ownership to ensure efficient execution and avoid overlap.
  • Continuously improve release processes by implementing best practices, tools, and automation where applicable.
  • Provide post-release support and troubleshooting to ensure smooth transitions to production environments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for all releases.
  • Track and report on release metrics, including process, performance, and quality, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Location

This fully remote role requires active participation in virtual meetings using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Google Meets. Candidates must be available during core Eastern Time (ET) hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional availability outside standard hours as needed. The role involves remote coordination with external project teams and Avum personnel, and may also require periodic in-person meetings, including occasional travel to government sites in Washington, D.C., and the Avum office in Agoura Hills, California.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • 5+ years in software delivery, DevOps, or release management roles.
  • Experience releasing applications, in a Low Code/No Code Environment, like Appian.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management processes.
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, capable of handling multiple projects at the same time.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with release management tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jira, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Ability to comply with all government security requirements is required for continued employment
