Job description

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Supervisor Analysts and Manager, Analytical, the Analyst conducts routine sample analysis as part of the team accountable for the generation of analytical results. This includes running samples, operation and maintenance of analytical equipment, processing and reporting data, evaluating QC results and preparation of standards and samples as required.

The Analyst is also required to conduct maintenance and/or repairs under supervision, as well as, maintain communication with the Analyst Supervisors to contact repair representative(s) as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample analysis using assigned instrumentation, ensuring proper calibration, data accuracy, and compliance with QC requirements
  • Process and review analytical data using instrument software and LIMS; identify and escalate outliers or OOS results
  • Prepare standards and QC samples with accurate documentation and adherence to stability requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of results to meet project deadlines
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine verification of laboratory equipment
  • Support QC investigations and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and GLP standards
  • Maintain complete and accurate records to support data integrity and audit readiness
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required
  • Coordinate with Supervisors to maintain laboratory supplies and resources
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Collaborate with team members and support cross-training initiatives
  • Follow all laboratory quality policies, SOPs, and health & safety requirements, including PPE use
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field preferred
  • Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, Environmental Biology, Chemical Technology, or similar discipline considered
  • Chemical Engineering degree may be considered
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be accepted

Experience:

  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling, storage, and disposal practices
  • Understanding of basic analytical measurements and solution preparation
  • Awareness of contamination control and prevention techniques
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a laboratory setting
  • Relevant laboratory experience is an asset; equivalent experience may be considered
